This is a portrait photograph of Sir James Charles Inglis, Chief Engineer of the Great Western Railway. It is undated but is probably late 19th century. It was taken by Adolphus Tear, London, (reg. no. 17520).
Writing on the back states:
'Sir James Charles Inglis
born Aberdeen, 9th September 1851
died ... 19th December 1911
Maternal grandfather to James and Alan Gillett.'
It is in fairly good condition - the photo and mount have some discolouration. The mount has lost some of its veneer on the back top edge, as well as some smudges on the back.
Photo - 14cm x 9.5cm approx.
Mount - 25.5cm x 19cm approx.
