This vintage fishing hardback is illustrated with some beautiful chapter vignettes.
It is in fairly good condition:
- the original dust-jacket has some discolouration, wear, rubbing, marks and scratches. Also the back has some small tears on the top edge
- inside there is some foxing especially at the beginning and end
- there is an underlining on one page
- there is a small notation on the inside back cover

23cm x 16.5cm x 4cm approx.

Blurb reads:
'Within the covers of this book salmon, sea-trout, and trout meet without precedence and palaver in my river of happy memories,' writes the author in his preface. He does not say, what is equally true, that besides acquiring a wealth of incidental instruction and hints on the catching of these prizes, the reader will find himself carried along on a sparkling stream of anecdote and subtle humour.
Major Simpson has taken a hand in most things where saddle, gun, or rod is concerned, in different parts of the world. Here his mise-en-scene is restricted to the waters of the British Isles, and whether he writes of the salmon of early springtime, the dashing sea-trout, or the little mottled brown trout, he has something original and stimulating to say - readers of his introduction to dry-fly fishing know his ability for practical instruction. The illustrations by the well-known artist-sportsman, GD Armour, admirably reflect the liveliness of the text.
